New Year..New Blog!

Hi everyone!  You may have noticed that I have maintained radio silence this month...I have been working on a new project!  If you have been following us from the beginning, you probably know that this blog was intended to be only a temporary way to update friends and family on the latest developments while the twins and I were in the hospital.  However, since so many of you have expressed how much you love watching the babies grow through my posts, I have decided that the blog is here to stay! That being said, many of you also know that I just can't leave well enough alone ;)  I wanted the blog to be a little more sophisticated and reader-friendly, and to be a place where I could post about my hobbies, interests, and projects along with updates on our family.  And a new blog was born!

Please click the link below to view my new blog, "Twodaloo!"

The first post is #1 in a series of three to come about the twins' first birthday festivities.  Please press the "Follow Us" button (scroll down in the right-hand column of the blog to find it) if you would like to continue to receive email updates when I post about the twins.  I'm a little sad that this is the last post on "The Haass Twins," but excited about a new blog beginning!  I hope you continue to "toddle along" with us as we grow...it's been wonderful having you all along for the ride!

Thank you all for your love and support, see you at Twodaloo!

Lots of love,
Stephanie

Oh, the Holidays...

Hi everybody! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!  We had big plans for the babies' first Christmas.  Everything was going to be festive, fabulous, and oh-so-perfect (as perfect as it could be with two crazy babies, anyway).  We were all very excited!

Impersonating Santa.
Aren't we jolly?
We set up our "Christmas tree."

With the babies being so mobile, a real tree was out of the question. My plan was to set up a small tree after the babies had gone to bed on Christmas Eve.  In the meantime, this was our "alterna-tree."
Never fear, the stockings were still hung for Santa to find!

And then we went to visit the Big Man himself!

Santa and Will at the Mothers of Multiples Christmas party. Will wasn't too thrilled with the jolly old elf.

Sydney definitely didn't enjoy her visit with Santa! Her sad little face just breaks my heart.

I'm sure we'll look back at this and laugh one day...

Things were going just as planned...and then the babies came down with the sniffles.  We went to Mimi and Granddad's house for Christmas Eve festivities.  We had yummy food and opened tons of presents. But you can tell by the pictures that the babies weren't their usual jolly selves!

Funny face!

All dressed up for Christmas!

Uncle Brad got a smile from me!
By this time, the babies were starting to get a little feverish.  They were less than enthusiastic about opening their gifts.

But they did perk up a bit when Uncle Brad set up the ball pit he got them!  Best present ever!

That night was rough for all of us. But even though I was up until 4:45 am with Will, Santa still managed to sneak down the chimney!  Instead of waking up early, opening presents around a sparkly tree, and then enjoying the yummy monkey bread I had prepared for breakfast, the babies slept in shifts most of the day.  They weren't awake at the same time until late that evening.  We let them open their presents in snatches here and there throughout the day. The rest of their awake time was spent snuggling with us while we read books or watched "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse."  I did manage to get a few pictures of them opening and playing with their loot.

Clackity-clack! This toy is noisy!

Pretty bow!

Not feeling so hot :(
Daddy makes it better.

Down, but not out!

Teamwork!
The next day Brady and I started to feel a little under-the-weather.  Turns out we caught the bug, too!  Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip to San Antonio to see our South Texas family and friends.  We were so disappointed!  But we are feeling much better now and are up to our old tricks ;)

Even though our holidays did not turn out as planned, we feel blessed to have had two (sick) little ones to share them with.

That's it for this post!  Be sure to check back soon...today is Will and Sydney's first birthday and there will be lots of great pictures to come!

Our First Thanksgiving

Our first Thanksgiving was so much fun!

Check out my new 'do!
Mommy says I'm handsome ;)
We went to Mimi and Granddad's house, and guess who was there?

I love my Granddad Johnny!
Grandma Margie knows how to snuggle! And she doesn't even mind the mashed potatoes in my hair ;)
We had fun playing with all of our "Mimi toys."

And then we helped Granddad baby-proof the house.

But the best part was the food!

My mashed potato facial.
Eating is my favorite!!
The next day, we had another surprise...PaPa came to town!

I love it when PaPa reads to me!

PaPa took us to lunch at Prairie house. We looooove to eat out!

Here we are at our favorite place to eat breakfast in Roanoke, Dove Creek Cafe'.
My favorite thing is the food!
Forget the food! I'd rather flirt with the waitresses!
All in all, it was a great weekend.  Mommy and Daddy say they have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Ya'll stay warm, now!

How Time Flies...

Wow.  I can't believe how much time has passed since I last posted on this blog.  Two whole months is a long time in "babyland!"  This fall has been incredibly busy for us, but don't worry, I got lots of pictures!

Will and Sydney have changed so much over the past two months!  They are a few days away from their 10-month birthday, and are 8 months adjusted.  It looks like last time I posted they had just perfected their sitting skills.  They have come a long way since then!   At their last doctor visit we had an in-depth developmental evaluation to make sure they were progressing normally in all areas, and both are right on track for their adjusted age.  And boy, have they grown!  Sydney weighs a little over 18 pounds and is about 27 inches tall and is wearing 6-9 month clothes. Will is topping out at 23 pounds and 29 inches tall, and is wearing 18-24 month clothes.  We are very thankful to have two happy, healthy babies!

Here are some pictures from the past couple of months.  We are so excited to experience our first holiday season with little ones.  Everything is so much more fun!

One of my favorite shots from our family photos taken in September at Grapevine's botanical gardens.

Happy from the moment I wake up!
Our first ride on the Forest Park Mini Train!  They both loved it!
You still up there, Mom?
Crazy hair at breakfast!  Mom has given me a couple haircuts since this picture was taken.
Sweet, sweet baby!
These again? Aren't we done with these stickers yet?
Practicing for American Idol.
I can be a ham, too!
We are looking more alike as we get older. This picture is a little spooky!

Oh, and did I mention we are both mobile?  Yikes!
Our first trip to the pumpkin patch.  Sydney was less than impressed!
More fun at the patch.  For more pictures, click here.
More pumpkin pics from our own little "patch" in the garden.
